Beginnings

For more than 100 years, we have been part of God’s mission—which began for us in China.

Occupations

All missionaries are called by God to their service. They are supported by a circle of supporters who pray for them, cultivate the relationship and also donate.

Voluntary

Many people also sacrifice their free time and support our work voluntarily – in Marburg, Germany and worldwide.

Today

Today we work as a charitable foundation in 10 countries around the world with almost 50 missionaries.

Short term

An assignment with us is also possible for a shorter period of time – between six months and 18 months.

Long term

Most missionaries work with a long-term perspective: a contract always runs for four years, but is also often renewed.

HISTORY

THE NEWS IN CHINA

  • In 1909, the first missionary, a deaconess, was sent to China via the China-Inland mission. Other missionaries soon followed her. In total, up to the expulsion from China (Communist Revolution) 14 couples and 31 deaconesses were sent.

REVERSE MISSION – THE EVANGELIUM RETURNS

  • More and more countries that once received missionaries have now become sending countries. The spiritual children of the once sent missionaries are now returning to found churches.
  • With the Kutenski family, the first missionaries from Brazil come to Germany to work with the Marburg Mission in the areas of church foundation and spiritual renewal of the churches. It creates the reverse mission work, which today is called Renew.
  • This is why we created the 2022 Network Europe under the name RENEW. The aim of the network is to establish, revitalise and multiply communities in Europe.

Many years ago you brought us the good news of Jesus. We are very grateful to you for that. Now we bring the Gospel back to Germany.
