In doing so, they deliberately advocated a further term of office for Scheiermann, who was born and raised in Ljubimovka/Omsk region. He is pleased about the trust placed in him and wants to continue to work hard for ELKUSFO and its interests.
The challenges he faces are great. ELKUSFO currently has too few full-time and volunteer employees. "We have to find an answer to how we can get suitable people and train them well for the service," Scheiermann said. Other important goals during his term of office are to work on sustainable structures and solid self-financing of ELKUSFO, with few dependencies. All this, explains the bishop, is intended to serve the great goal of inviting people into the relationship with God and establishing them in faith.
The Evangelical Lutheran Church Ural, Siberia and Far East ELKUSFO has existed since 1992 and covers nine time zones. It includes 120 communities and groups with Russian-German roots. Nine pastors and 104 preachers serve around 5000 members between the Urals and Vladivostok on the Pacific.
The area of this church is divided into three regions. Each is led by a provost, as vicegerent of the bishop. For the Urals, this is Waldemar Jesse (Jekatarinburg), for Siberia Vladmir Vinogradov (Omsk) and Manfred Brockmann (Vladivostock) for the Far East responsible.
