On Sunday afternoon, September 18, 250 Thais from the 12 Thai Fellowship Churches (TFC) congregations celebrated the 30th anniversary of the Thai Guest Workers Mission in a large church in Hsinchu, Taiwan.
It was a service of praise and thanksgiving with insight into the history of the work and prayer and blessing, especially for Mrs. Daruni, who has been there from the beginning. The aim of the work is to tell Thais in Taiwan about the love of God and to give them hope and comfort.
In 1992, the first migrant workers from Thailand came to Taiwan. Fr. Daruni saw this as a great opportunity to tell them about the love of God, because in his own country little attention was paid to the Gospel. What began in Taiwan’s largest industrial area has now grown into a community association (TFC) of 12 communities.
Since the guest workers usually only get 2-3-year contracts, a continuous work of Imo and Erika Scharrer, Acharn Nikorn and Nok as well as Mrs. Daruni and other missionaries among the guest workers is important for the congregations to remain.
Pray that more Thais will get to know and accept Jesus and that more missionaries will come to Taiwan to take advantage of the opportunities.
