FUTURE APPROVED
About five years ago, David Nescholta got in touch with the Eastern Lawa people in northern Thailand. During his service for the Marburg Mission in Thailand (MMT), he became aware of the living situation and the needs of the Lawa. In deep and personal discussions with representatives of the people, it became very clear that participation in Thai social life is hardly possible. In particular, there is a lack of access to education.
ON LAWA
The Eastern Lawa people are largely isolated from outside influences. The village leaders have strict control over the people. They do not like changes, especially religious changes, which many Eastern Lawa fear will bring shame on their ancestors and demand retribution from a multitude of evil spirits on their communities. Despite this pressure, a minority of Eastern Lawa families have embraced the gospel. Some had to leave their village because of this.
Our OBJECTIVE

Enable connection to Thai society through access to education for Eastern Lawa children

Strengthening identity through regular events in the meeting centre

Promote culture and language and preserve it for future generations
