On Thursday in Hualien, Taiwan, the integrative "Hope Café" opened for the first time in the rooms of the home Bethesda. Only employees and residents of the home work together and it is their declared goal to create a space in which encounters can take place with the café. "Encounters with our residents, of course," writes Mirjam Wentland, who has been running Bethesda’s home and work for over 1.5 years. "But also encounters with the good news and Jesus himself." There is also a promise in such a project – that hospitality often and unexpectedly coincides with the presence of the Eternal (cf. Heb 13:2).
First, the café was opened this week as a rehearsal for the staff of the home and close friends of the plant. The opening ceremony for the public will also take place in September.
