South Sudan – "It takes a culture of forgiveness to avoid spreading hatred and injury to the next generation."
In cooperation with locals, Matthias Scheitacker, coordinator of the network translated and trained
East Africa, therefore a course for married couples. The aim of the course is to counter the transmission of enemy images and hatred in families. The applications and symbols contained therein help the participants to identify connections and find common solutions.
Not only do severe living conditions such as food shortages and unrest put a strain on marriages, but man’s traditional authority often leads to abuse of power in marriages. "I realized once again how big the traditional gap between husband and wife is," says M. Scheitacker.
On 18 October, 17 participants completed the first course in Kwajok, in the northwest of South Sudan.
