Untold possibilities

In April 2017, Alexander Scheiermann was officially appointed Bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church Ural, Siberia and Far East (ELCUSFO). It is the largest church in the world. His new area of responsibility extends over nine time zones and an area 40 times as large as Germany. It includes 156 municipalities and groups with Russian roots. Nine pastors as well as 104 preachers serve around 5000 members between the Ural and Vladivostok on the Pacific Ocean.

Here, unprecedented possibilities for the proclamation of the Gospel, the founding of the church, the congregation and the deacons also arise for us as a Marburg mission. In Ulan-Ude (Sibiria), for example, there is an interest in establishing a Lutheran community. From the Russian port town of Magadan, in recent years there have always been requests to send a missionary. They would like to become Christians, but do not know how. Now this city belongs to the working area of Alexander Scheiermann. There are many unmarried ways in this great area to make Jesus known and to build his church.

Thank you,

  • for the communities of the ELCUSFO and the many unpredictable ways to make God known.

We PLEASE:

  • for wisdom and knowledge for Alexander Scheiermann in his bishop's office, and that he is a bishop according to the heart of God.
  • to clarify where priorities are to be set and where God has already prepared people.
  • for the people in Ulan-Ude that a community can be established there.
